Unity Tech Shop: Get the Most from Windows 11
Windows 11 brings smarter, smoother, and more business-friendly features, but getting the most out of them can take a little know-how. Here are five quick ways to boost productivity, save time, and streamline your workflow.
1. Quick Machine Recovery
Downtime can cost time and productivity. Enable Quick Machine Recovery so Windows boots into recovery mode and automatically applies fixes from Microsoft’s cloud.
How to apply: Settings -> System -> Recovery -> turn on Quick machine recovery.
2. Power Up with PowerToys
Microsoft PowerToys is a free set of utilities for power users, customise your workflow, enhance productivity, and make Windows 11 work the way you want.
3. Make It Yours
- Align taskbar icons to the left for a classic Windows 10 feel.
- Switch to Dark Mode (Personalise -> Colours) to reduce eye strain.
- Add themes or slideshows to keep your desktop fresh.
4. Save Energy Everywhere
Activate Energy Saver Mode to reduce power consumption:
Settings -> System -> Power & battery -> Energy saver -> toggle Always use Energy Saver.
Use it automatically at low battery or manually to maximise uptime.
5. Cut the Clutter
- Disable unnecessary app notifications.
- Hide widgets, Task View, or the search box in Taskbar Settings.
- Use Cleanup recommendations: Start -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Cleanup recommendations to remove temporary files, unused apps, and large or cloud-synced files.
