Spread A Little Joy This Christmas With The Teesside Charity
As proud patrons of The Teesside Charity, Unity is participating in the Christmas Toy Appeal. In addition to donating presents, this year our head office is serving as a designated drop off centre for the toy appeal.
Unfortunately, one in three children on Teesside lives below the breadline. This means families choose between paying their bills and buying food. Christmas is simply not a feasible cost for some.
Every child deserves a Christmas present and every year The Teesside Charity do everything they can to make this possible with the Christmas Toy Appeal. Unity World are proud to again be supporting this amazing appeal by collecting gifts and you can help to.
Ways to help:
- Give a child in Teesside the gift of Christmas this year by donating a gift – our offices are a drop-off point.
- Purchase a gift from Teesside Charity’s Toy Appeal Amazon Wish List.
- Donate funds to the Toy Appeal by visiting Teesside Charity’s ‘Donate’ page and they will purchase the gifts on your behalf.
All gifts MUST be delivered to our drop-off point by Friday 22nd November to ensure Teesside Charity has enough time to distribute the presents to families before Christmas.
Suggested gift ideas:
Need some help with gift ideas? Here are a list of gift ideas for each age group:
0-3 years: dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, rattles, activity boards, musical instruments, stacking rings, shape sorters, props for make-believe play, bath toys and puzzles
3-5: dolls, action figures, educational games and toys, active games, toy vehicles, art supplies, books and puzzles
5-9: educational games and toys, stationery, books, sports equipment, remote control cars, building sets, board games and magic sets
9-12: Board games, stationery, books, hair accessories, model kits, sports equipment,
13-16: books, make-up and toiletries (please try to ensure non-allergic ingredients if possible), hair accessories and gift vouchers
Batteries can be expensive for parents, so if your gift requires them, please try to provide them. Please tape any purchased batteries to the side of the box so that children can play with their gift on Christmas Day.
Are there any presents you can’t buy?
We ask that you refrain from buying:
- Edible items (not including new unopened selection boxes)
- Anything that assumes the family has something for the toy to be of use (e.g. a DVD, CD, video game)
- Any second-hand or used gifts, regardless of their condition, for health and safety reasons.
- Homemade or knitted items cannot be accepted either.
To enable Teesside Charity to work out which age group the gift is suitable for, can you please also avoid wrapping donated gifts.
What is Unity’s address to drop gifts off?
If you would like to bring gifts to our drop-off point you can deliver or post these to Brunel House, Brunel Road, Middlesbrough, TS6 6JA.
Let’s help give children in Teesside an unforgettable smile this Christmas.
