Chris Thomas 

Chris is our Technical Director for Unity Working IT. His role is to manage our IT projects to ensure they are done on time, on budget and ensure our customers are happy with the results. Chris manages all of our IT projects and allocates them to our engineers. He also provides support to the team for complex projects and is responsible for ensuring quality from a technical point of view is of the standard Unity and our customers expect. Chris has over a decade of experience in delivery IT projects and managing engineers.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I would of like to attempt being an electrician or even a plumber

Tell me about your background and how you came to this role.

After leaving school I did an apprenticeship where I found my first job working for a company partnership with the council, after being made redundant I moved onto working in education as an IT technician for several years, after a brief job change into mobile phone repairs, I started at Unity.

Are there any upcoming projects that you are excited about?

I have a module coming up which is a work-based project, I am excited to start this to better my knowledge and experience.

What is the accomplishment that you are most proud of?

Becoming a father to 3 children.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take with you and why?

Food, offroad motorbike & clothes I would like to think that with these things I would remain content with being stranded.

If you had the ability to change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?

Rid the world of war and crimes, To make the world a more positive place.

What helpful resources do you rely on in your job role?

Providing I have a laptop and internet I would like to think I can do my job anywhere successfully.

Share an interesting or lesser-known fact about yourself that people would find surprising or amusing.

I own a small laser engraving machine that is capable cutting through wood and plastics.

What are your goals for the next year or so?

To successfully complete my cyber security degree at university.

What is one thing you wish people knew about your job?

Fixes can sometime never be explained in technology, especially with a restart.
